Becoming a student again

It's been a while since the last post, slipping back into old habits, neglecting my computer (although then when I want to use it it neglects me orz). Anyway, the last few weeks have been extremely interesting for a number of reasons. Firstly, the new Transition album was published in Taiwan and we've since been to Tainan and Taichung to play concerts, been on radio in Taipei and have a busy schedule coming up.

Perhaps then, in the light of all this, it's not the wisest of times to start taking Chinese lessons in 台大語文中心. The course there is pretty intense and involves fifteen hours of classes plus about 10 - 15 hours of homework each week. Most of this extra time that I need for each day has come out of sleep time, so I generally look a bit more tired these days, but funnily enough, I think happier for it!

I remember coming to Taiwan three years ago to study Chinese when Transition was recording Three Bridges (and I'd finished all the drum takes by then), it was a bit of a dream. Like most dreams though, when you reach it, it just moves a bit further away, or like climbing a mountain, you accomplish a climb and see a higher peak beyond!
I remember thinking for the past year in England, if I could just study one more term in 台大 then I would be satisfied with my level of Chinese. Now I've got the chance and it's a bit of a shock to the system orz. I'm the lowest in the class by a fair margin which means I need to work extra hard to keep up (but does mean that if I do it then I learn fast). I'm going on a radio show on Monday so one of my goals is to use some of the Chinese idioms I've learnt, on air.

Hope all is well folks, and that you're all enjoying the various stages of temperature, weather, season and climate, depending on where you live.
