Quake

We often hear from international development or aid agencies that disasters (natural or man made) always hit the poorest hardest. It really seems to be so true, the earthquake in Haiti being the most recent example.
For many years a corrupt government borrowed money from the IMF, World Bank and others and spent it selfishly. More recently the new government has been trying to turn things around, but has been laden with repayments from the earlier regime. This means that there's not much money to be spent on public services, health, education etc. When a disaster like this comes then it really shows up the lack of healthcare, or infrastructure and of ability to care for the people who need it most.
So what can we do? Of course donating money is good, but try joining this little campaign! Imagine if together we were able to persuade the IMF and World Bank to drop Haiti's unpayable debt, make sure that aid given to them is given in grants and not loans (making sure that it's spent well of course) and in doing so, be part of lifting that nation up.
One campaign has more details here so do join in please!!!

歡迎大家來加入這個很棒很重要的campaign。我真的覺得這是一個最好的方法幫助海地的災民,因為這種幫助會幫助他們的未來不會只幫他們幾個月而已。
