Continuation
Well it hasn't been a year and a month, but it has been a while so here's another of my reflections. Maybe the reason I barely write on this blog is because there's always a more interesting email to read or write or a friend online to catch up with (when I'm on my computer).
To be honest, one of the things that has become clearer to me the longer I've been alive is that people are truly more important that most other things, including money, career, work, ambition etc.
Of course those things are good too, but being able to see friends be inspired and touched is the thing I think I most enjoy in life.
This year I've already been to Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and... Val D'Isere (of all places) and while I've been amazed by the opportunities that seem to be opening up for Transition, the best thing has been being able to reconnect with people I've known and been friends with in England years ago. There's something special about being able to see someone in their home context and have the same friendship despite the surroundings being so totally different. I think God has made us all in an astounding way where relationships can transcend boundaries of culture, environment and space. I suppose it's a shadow of the love God has for each of us that really goes beyond space, time, distance, culture, environment and even life itself. What a thought.
So, what was I writing about? Actually I don't know exactly, just that so far 2009 has been a year (well, half year so far) for friendship, both new and old. I thank God so much for being able to meet such good friends in Shane, Kohan, Lily and Diana, as well as being able to renew connections with old friends like Yi, Christo and Thebe.
What a privilege.
Anyway, I'd better practice my drums now.
